The Rest Christ Gave Us

The rest Christ give us by Prophet g o. Ogo-Oluwa

Bible Verse:

Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

From the beginning of creation, God established the Sabbath day as a day of rest. After creating the heavens and the earth, God rested on the seventh day. This rest was a sign that His work of creation was complete and perfect. The Sabbath became a reminder for God’s people to trust in Him and to rest from their labor.

However, the true and greater rest came through our Lord Jesus Christ. When Jesus came into the world, He did more than teach about the Sabbath. He fulfilled its deeper meaning. Many people were burdened with sin, fear, and the heavy weight of the law. They struggled to find peace in their hearts. But Jesus gave an invitation that still speaks to us today: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

The greatest moment of this rest was revealed on the cross of Calvary. When Jesus gave His life for the salvation of the world, He completed the work of redemption. Through His sacrifice, the burden of sin was lifted from everyone who believes in Him. The cross became the place where sorrow turned into victory and where condemnation was replaced with grace.

Because of the cross, believers now have a deeper rest than the Sabbath day. This rest is not only about stopping from physical work; it is a rest for the soul. In Christ we find peace, forgiveness, and the assurance of eternal life. We are no longer slaves to sin or fear, because Jesus has paid the price for our redemption.

Today, every believer can live in this rest by trusting fully in Christ. When we bring our burdens, struggles, and worries to Him, He gives us peace that the world cannot give. The rest of Christ strengthens our faith and reminds us that God has already finished the work of our salvation.

Therefore, let us hold firmly to the grace given to us through Jesus Christ. Let us live with gratitude, knowing that through the cross of Calvary we have received true rest for our souls.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, we thank You for the sacrifice You made on the cross of Calvary. Thank You for giving us rest from the burden of sin and fear. Help us to trust in You and to walk in the peace and victory You have given us. Amen. 🙏
